All About Me

Helena - 16 yrs

German Exchange Student - PPP Junior Ambassador - Cheerleader at OHS - Forever an Eagle - Blogger at Heart

I grew up in the very north of Germany, in a town called Leck, and later moved to Niebuell, where I attend the local "high school" (it's not exactly a high school like in the US, but that's a whole different story), called FPS (Friedrich-Paulsen-Schule). This year, I finished my 11th grade, but when I come home, I have to do m 12th and 13th grade in order to get my degree called "Abitur", which allows me to study at universities.

I'm a passionate soccer team and played for about 8 years in my town's soccer club TSV RW Niebuell.
My teammates and me have been together for a long time and we've been fairly successful.
Last year, I was elected to be the team captain, also because I usually play as a center/inner right defender and have a good overview of the game.

I also enjoy riding my horse Mika a lot. I got him for my 7th birthday and went through thick and thin with him ever since. It may sound weird because he's an animal, but he's almost like a best friend to me, and I love him a lot.

In 2009, I started playing the piano. Between all my activities, it has not always been easy to play/practice regularly, but I still had fun most of the time.
Going to the gym to workout with friends is something I enjoy a lot, too. It's great to let out all your power and to work out with friends because we always motivate each other. And if I don't go to the gym, I go out for a run.
I've always liked baking and cooking a lot, too, and therefore started a food blog in 2012. But since my exchange in France, where I didn't have much time or opportunities to continue baking/cooking, other things have become priorities and I haven't really been posting much ever since.

But now that I'm on my exchange, I have different activities. In summer, I decided to join the Cheerleading team and I don' regret my choice at all. I made friends before school even started and I could experience a typical American High School experience, since there's no Cheerleading team anywhere near my home town in Germany. And if there was, it would definitely be completely different. since Football is not as big as in the US.
But since I joined the Oakridge Cheerleading Team I had the chance to go to every Football Game and stand on the track and support our team. I love those Friday Football nights and it is definitely something I'm going to miss.

And now the winter season is going to start, and I plan on trying out for our Basketball team! I hope it's going to be fun.

I believe that one's future plans are also a big, interesting part about a person, and if you're interested in mine, click here. Those are my current future plans, but I feel like they change every week, because I get new perspectives and ideas.

Proud to be an Oakridge Eagle ♥
